Curriculum and Syllabus

At Balag Institute, we offer a balanced Islamic curriculum grounded in Islamic principles and aligned with British values. Our aim is to equip the next generation with both academic excellence and strong moral character, preparing them for both their professional futures and their roles as confident, practicing British Muslims. Our curriculum helps children navigate misconceptions about Islam, ensuring they engage with society with knowledge, integrity, and confidence.

 

To achieve these goals, we have divided our curriculum into three key stages:

Our curriculum covers four key areas of knowledge:

1.    Quranic Studies

2.    Islamic Studies

3.    Arabic Language

4.    Academic Tuition (Math, Science, & English)

Currently, we are offering the first three areas (Quran, Islamic Studies, and Arabic) for students in the Beginner and Intermediate stages.

Our Comprehensive Syllabus


1. Learning Quran: Reading, reciting, and understanding the Quran are core to a Muslim’s life. Our Quran syllabus is designed to help students memorize essential surahs and verses, recite with proper Tajweed, and understand the meaning of what they recite, particularly during prayer. The syllabus includes:

·         Qaida: Foundations for reading the Quran

·         Tajweed: Rules for correct recitation

·         Hifz: Memorization of surahs and Quranic verses

·         Tafseer: Understanding the meaning and context of key surahs


2. Islamic Studies: Our Islamic Studies syllabus focuses on instilling religious and moral values, while equipping students to grow as practicing Muslims in modern society. The syllabus covers:

·         Aqaid & Akhlaq: Beliefs and ethics

·         Fiqh: Islamic jurisprudence

·         Adiyat & Adab: Supplications and manners

·         Seerah & Tarikh: Life of the Prophet (PBUH) and Islamic history

·         Hadith: Understanding and memorizing the sayings of the Prophet (PBUH)

Students will progress from basic Islamic teachings to advanced levels, with the goal of becoming knowledgeable leaders and spiritual guides (Da’i) for the community.


3. Arabic Language: Arabic is the key to understanding Islam, as it is the language of the Quran and the Sunnah. Our Arabic syllabus ensures students can read, write, and understand Arabic in both religious and everyday contexts. It includes:

  • Quranic Arabic: Special focus on understanding Quranic verses
  • Reading & Writing: Development of reading and writing skills in Arabic
  • Listening & Speaking: Enhancing communication skills in Arabic

Students will begin with foundational Quranic Arabic and gradually progress to more advanced proficiency.
